So far my favorite article we have been required to read so far is the one that addresses animals and gender. My roommate generously read the article to me before bed, and I think that made a huge difference by the way I thought of each concept. The idea that gender is all about biology must have clearly come from studying of animal genders. Research conducted by Charles Darwin has been covered since middle school. I think he goes a good job explaining his research and the connection between biology and gender with the concept of evolution. He touches on the motivation, the preferences and sex drives in animals. Seems a little silly that animal can express these parts of speech, but they do just like us.
As my roommate and I read this article together, all we could think of is maybe this is where the saying "all boys are animals" came from. The norm in our society that most are used to is that one should have only sexual partner [at a time]. Animals have multiple sexual partners, but they're animals... I couldn't even begin to name all the people I know who have had multiple sexual partners at a time but also while in a relationship. Boy or girl. Gender has become irreverent addressing who does it more. Only difference is that girls are oppressed ten times more than men. But us girls still do it with no shame. Bottom line boys AND girls are animals.
